Maybe it's possible for us to come up with a social contract under which we collectively pretend that floods like the last one just didn't happen? It feels like a lot of us enjoy each others suffering in a way that is inevitably going to come back around and make our lives uncomfortable at a later date.

I don't know Howie all that well, unfortunately, despite having looked in his mind I dumped all of the information. I've been a bit preoccupied since my time ship isn't feeling well. What's been odd in particular that hasn't been brought on by his recent troubles?

I confess I pay him less attention than most, but... not entirely? He has been definitely more strict upon others, but it is naught I have not seen from the highly religious in my time, when they were particularly concerned or perturbed by things.
