Maybe it's possible for us to come up with a social contract under which we collectively pretend that floods like the last one just didn't happen? It feels like a lot of us enjoy each others suffering in a way that is inevitably going to come back around and make our lives uncomfortable at a later date.

I've been talking to people, and I think it's probably mostly fatigue, Sister.

[PAUSE.]

But it's also possible that it's body stealing aliens. Has he been different for very long?

He's been depressed for a while—since the incident with that man John. The irritability to this degree is relatively new, though.

[Pause while she considers, then decides to offer this information.] At least one other person I've spoken to seems to think that something is up.

I don't know why he hasn't commented on the blackmail and murder, sister. It feels like the kind of thing he should be talking to us about.

[Pause, while Prefect wonders if it's someone who he likes.]

Is it the best Doctor? I'm talking to him now about it, and he thinks it's aliens.

For that matter, while I don't know Eames, he never struck me as the sort of fellow to come out swinging the way he did there.

Also, if wardens have really been murdering and blackmailing, then that probably comes under the banner of unusual behavior as well.

[Huh, Agent K has feelings on the matter? So the tally of people other than him who think this is weird is now two time travelers and a guy who guards alien technology. Prefect is starting to feel a wee bit under qualified.]

Does he have a theory about what could be causing it?

Not to mention, something you'd think more of us would have heard about as well.

I'm not sure if he has a specific theory, but he said he thinks it might be spread by touch. Beyond that—I really need to talk to him more, and see if he's turned up anything else.

[He buys that for Howie and Sveta, but how does Eames fit into that? Unless...]

How many people does he think this has effected? We should make a list.

I don't know for sure. I'll compare notes with him and get back to you with what I find, if you like.
