Maybe it's possible for us to come up with a social contract under which we collectively pretend that floods like the last one just didn't happen? It feels like a lot of us enjoy each others suffering in a way that is inevitably going to come back around and make our lives uncomfortable at a later date.

Comrades, has anyone else noticed that Howie seems... particularly unlike himself, lately?

[Private to Howie]

Excuse me Comrade, I was wondering if I could ask you some questions about God?

Not even the one Arthas made about dragging his mother out the back of his carriage?

He was possessed by a sword, as was my understanding. And I would wager he wants someone to kill him or give them reasonable excuse to allow him to die.

I think you're probably right, Comrade. I don't think any less of him because of it, I just don't know... how I could make him feel better.

He's had years of what floods give us in brief intervals. His desire to escape the consequences of it is understandable. But I don't know the man well. Simply what he mentioned about having done things wrong, and still be considered a hero.

[PTHH Prefect isn't impressed with Arthas trying to escape the consequences. And you get a tiny complainy little schpiel. Which probably means he likes you, Rhade.]

I understand why he wants to kill himself, everyone wants to kill themselves some of the time, It doesn't mean that you should.

I just wish I knew how to talk him out of it. I always used to be good at talking people into things, I don't know why none of the things I'm good at work any more.

Perhaps it's a matter of talking someone out of one thing, and into something else. He has more reasons to die in his mind than to live. He needs reasons to live.

[He should know. He let Dylan Hunt kill him. Something he'll have to undo if he goes back.]

But no. It doesn't mean you should. Sometimes the damage is worse when you do. Only he knows everything he's done wrong, and only he can arrange to have it rectified.
