Comrades! Consumers!

Are you feeling the sting of loss in your life? The desperate cravings of inadequacy? Has your warden cut you off from something you long for and miss, or your inmate made it impossible to enjoy one of your former pleasures? Brothers, sisters, such times sting all of us at some point, but let these losses not deter us from our purer functions! Let them not drive us into states of brooding disapproval or let us search for an unmatchable fulfillment in our own souls! No, for doing this will only drag us deeper into the mindless quagmire of our own stinging loss! Comrades, instead let us ask ourselves why? What would really cure this pain? Not sitting alone in our rooms, nor distracting ourselves with the idle pleasures of company, NO Comrades! Do not be fooled by the blithe bragging of snake oil salesmen promising you gain through loss! Don't listen to the clamoring priests and evangelicals of loneliness and self indulgence! Comrades, the ache of loss is a physical manifestation of your own, wounded being, and can only be solved by the glorious deliverance of commerce!

Of products, Comrades!

It is in this spirit of hope that the Factory is forced to announce a brief intermission of access to our current stock. Know that we too feel the absence of that which we are cut off from, and that we will be there in sympathy and availability in your own times of hardship! Please direct any and all orders to our on site staff, who will endeavor to provide the very best of service even through this difficult period.

Comrades, believe always in strength through commerce! Through the bonds of the corporate family we are made whole, If you can not buy with me today, buy with me tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, once more unto the breach, and onto every breach!

Amen.

I used to work as the District Attorney for Gotham, where I used to live. One day, these corrupt cops kidnapped me. They put me in a warehouse filled with oil. Also, they put a phone rigged to explosives in there. I could talk to my fiancee, who was in another warehouse with oil. I tried to get free, but ended up soaking half my face in oil. They were supposed to save her...but he came into my warehouse and saved me instead. Then, when we both were out of the warehouse it exploded. Rachel...she died. A spark caught my face on fire. At the hospital, they said they could put skin grafts on my face to fix it up. I didn't want them to. My face stayed the way it was.

...and that's how I got my scar.

Private - And Prefect is a bit distraught now.

...I...

...

Comrade, I'm sorry.

Why did you decide not to get the skin grafts?

Private - Sorry!

Back in Internal Affairs, they had a nickname for me: Harvey Two-Face. Why should I hide what I really am?

Private - BAAAWWWWWWW XD

...

But Comrade, if you don't hide it, then surely you're not actually two faced?

Private - Is he now a worried little robot?

I'm not sure now. It made sense then. Everybody expected me to be this good little Boy Scout of a lawyer. Harvey Dent, Gotham's 'White Knight'. However...I did some rash things. I made some decisions that I didn't want people to know about. I got angry easily. It showed. Now...I'm not really like my old self at all.
From: [identity profile] buywithme.livejournal.com
Do you regret not getting it fixed? Now that you're not like that?

...How did you change so much?
From: [identity profile] unbiasedchance.livejournal.com
I don't. It helps me remember what I needed to do. They needed to pay. The mob, the corrupt cops, the people who did this to me. It helped me remember my mission and just who was to blame.

...I heard Rachel die. I heard her last words. Then, I was killed by somebody who used to be a 'friend', in the loosest sense of the word.
From: [identity profile] buywithme.livejournal.com
I'm sorry Comrade, I don't think I could ever do that...

Why did your friend kill you?

Private - Except for touching.

Don't worry. I don't expect you to, and I don't think anyone else here expects you to either.

I changed. My methods for taking care of the mob were a bit...different from most people's.

Private - And offers of friendship :c

He killed you over a difference of opinion?

Private - Aw, poor little robot.

It wasn't just that. My methods were a lot more radical. They were efficient and they worked, but people couldn't see them for what they were-they were actually getting the job done.
From: [identity profile] buywithme.livejournal.com
But fulfilling your function-- getting the job done I mean, there's nothing more important than that! Your friend was clearly very wrong!

Private - Hooray!

I...thanks. I like to think so also.
