[Video clicks on, and HELLO THERE, It's SHERIFF PREFECT! He's got a hat, and a badge, and a gun, and they're all in shot. Yeah, he wants you to know it.]

It's come to my attention that we got a few new faces recently come into town. Now, I ain't doubting that the most of you are just decent, law abiding folk who I hope to come to know as fellow citizens of this fair camp. I just wanna take the chance to say howdy to Y'all, and make myself known. The name's John Prefect, and round these parts I am the law. Now, y'all have chosen a pretty rough and tumble place to come rest your boots here, but the people are decent, and you got any problems, I would humbly fuckin' urge you to bring to me or one'a my deputies.

'cept maybe that good for nothing sonuvabitch Frankie.

[COUGH COUGH, DID HE SAY THAT? NAH, HE WOULD NEVER SAY THAT.]

Now, y'all good and decent folk can just cast your eyes elsewhere for this next part:

Attention shitkickers, rabble rousers, and alla them who're lacking in a sense of civil fuckin' decency. I just wanna make one thing clear:

This is my town. You try to fuck it? And I will fuck you, son. You are in the South now, worse shit than you even knew existed has rolled through here, and the Law has stayed the Law. My job will get done. So before you make the biggest mistake'a your life and walk into this town thinkin' that you can cross us here? You best take the time to ponder how you wanna be makin' your exit. Get lucky and it'll be pickin' up your teeth? Get unlucky, and it'll be in a wooden box.

Y'all got the chance of a fresh start comin' here. Don't waste it.

[And with a nod to the Camera, Sheriff Prefect reaches forward, and clicks off.]

[ooc: Feel free to spam him with reports of crime, or CRIMINAL VILLAINY, or just... lazy good ol' boy hanging out in the sheriff's office!]

Of course, Sheriff. Just as it should be.

[Dammit, what's a fella gotta do to get his lawman to turn a blind eye? Bribery?]

I do indeed. It could bring a lotta money into this little town. Shops would prosper, the town would grow. [He'd get richer...] A few people would have to move, of course, but for the community as a whole, it's the best thing that could happen to this place.

People who jump on the bandwagon of progress quickly...or train car, to keep the right metaphor [small giggle. Ah, he amuses himself.]...could really strike it rich. [Hint hint.]

And I'm sure a big company like that, who stand to strike it so damn rich from all this, will be able to make offers those few people do have to relocate can't afford to turn down. Everybody wins, right Mayor?

Well, I can't tell Mr. Reaver how to run his business, but I'm sure he'll be offering good incentives for people to leave.

Well, I'm sure one way or another we'll fine out.
