[Prefect is just sort of pottering about in his bed shop, he'll probably go home soon, or he might pick one of his beds and have a little sleep in it. If anyone wants him, this is where to find him!]

[Elle ran into her dad's bed shop, breathless with excitement. After what happened in the malt shop, it was super important that she talk to him right away!]

"Hey dad, you'll never guess what happened!"

[She held out her left hand to show him her beautiful new ring.]

"Rick proposed!"

Prefect had just been fluffing up pillows around the shop when his younger daughter runs in, full of excitement!]

Hiya princess! What's all the commotion about?

[and then she holds out her hand, and he sees the ring.]

Well Gosh...

[He knows that Rick's his little princess's special guy, and he even thinks that the footballer was a pretty swell character for her to be taking around with her, but marriage? It just seemed a little soon! But she's so excited, and he wanted the best for both his gals, so Prefect gives her an adoring smile!]

That's just the swellest news ever pumpkin! You told your sister yet?

"Nope, you're the first person I wanted to tell, pop!"

[Elle hadn't really thought about her big sister in the excitement of the moment, but of course Aleera would have to be her maid of honor! She'd let her know as soon as she got home.]

"What with Rick going off to State U next semester, he really wanted to get married soon! Maybe even before the big game against Generalville!"

[She bounced on the balls of her feet before flinging her arms around her dad's neck. She was just so happy!]

"I can't wait, pop! I love him so much!"

Protective fake daddy has silent misgivings about this...

[Prefect feels a small swell of pride that his little girl loves him enough to come to him first, closely followed by the smallest twinge of something else when she talks about getting married. Still, no worries! He gives her a quick hug and a little sweep off her feet to bring Elle up into a little twirl!]

Oh buttercup, he'll be darn lucky to have a Gal quite as lovely as you are!

[As he sets her down, a thought occurs to him. If Rick's marrying her and taking her to State U, does that mean that his little princess is going to stop her own studies for her swell husband to be? Not that it matters of course! She's happy, and he's happy, and weddings are super, so it really doesn't matter anyway!]

[Elle smiled up at her pop happily. Everything was moving so fast but she was loving every minute of it!]

"We want to get married as soon as possible, pop! How quick do you suppose we could get a ceremony together?"

[She absolutely couldn't wait to be married to her sweetheart. Sure, it might mean cutting her studies short, but all she wanted was to marry Rick, set up house with him, and eventually have a couple kids, and a white picket fence. It would be perfect.]

Well pumpkin, normally you'd probably have to wait a few months, but lucky for you your pop's on pretty good terms with a certain local member of the clergy!

[Big smile, this was a good thing! Rick was a nice boy, and just because he was stealing Prefects little girl didn't mean there was anything bad about him! There was no reason for Prefect not to be completely happy about this.]

I'm guessing it could happen within the week!

[So why was he suddenly remembering how.. well... how kinda sorta slow Rick always seemed before?]

[Elle clapped her hands delightedly and hugged her father again. He sure was swell!]

"Gee, thanks, pop! Do you suppose you could file our marriage license for us? We'd go to the town hall ourselves, but of course we can't miss classes or practice, especially with the big game coming up with weekend!"

[Prefect could do that! Filing things was pleasant! It was much more pleasant than actually dealing with the fact that your daughter was off to marry an idiot who was going to ruin her life! So he could file it like a pro and not focus on it!]

[Elle kissed her father on the cheek again and dashed out of the store, skipping down the street as she imagined how perfect the wedding would be.]
