buywithme: (Calm Prefect)
Prefect ([personal profile] buywithme) wrote2009-11-30 01:19 am

Voice post.

[Prefect's voice is surrounded by the soft cooing of like, a MILLION BILLION TRIBBLES. He sounds just about as calm as he has ever sounder in his life.]

Comrades, I honestly have no idea how it is even remotely possible to dislike these creatures. The number of you deriving enjoyment from their torture is frankly a little disturbing to me. They're nice, and they're gentle, and there is literally no possible reason to stomp on them or feed them to your dogs.

[More cooing, and Prefect lets out a strangely happy sigh.]

[EDITED TO ADD]

Also, Comrades, I recommend that we solve the Tribble problem by hoarding them all into a room which we keep free from food, and then allow them to live there forever.

If we had these in the Factory, we would breed them so that the ones born after the first generation did not have mouths, to prevent saturating the market, then we'd sell millions of them.

Because they're nice, and it's good to have many nice things.

o'brien's concerned for your orthodoxy, prefect.

They're pointless, comrade. You've formed a pointless attachment to something which is not even capable of thought. That can only be detrimental to any form of attachment you have to your Factory, comrade. Surely you owe it to them to get rid of these things.

[identity profile] buywithme.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Comrade, if these things ever turned up in the Factory? It would be my duty as an Alpha Plus to buy as many of them as possible.

[identity profile] equalsfive.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Who, exactly, would you buy them off?

[identity profile] equalsfive.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
I thought you were the Factory? This makes no sense, comrade. Why would your Factory want you to have these things?

[identity profile] buywithme.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
I live to set an example. The Factory would want us to have them because they are nice and the Factory loves us and wants us to have nice things.

[identity profile] equalsfive.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Then why would they make you buy them? If they were doing it out of their concern for your welfare, would they not just give you them?

[identity profile] buywithme.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Giving things away sets an unhealthy precedent.

[identity profile] equalsfive.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
It would be unorthodox, comrade?

Your Factory has interesting definition of orthodoxy.

Prefect doesn't like you dissing his Factory.

[identity profile] buywithme.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
...Comrade, that book about your world, Sam mentioned that it's called "1984". As in, the year, 1984? Anno Domini?

...that was o'brien doing his REASONABLE thing. :D he's also wiped said book from his memory.

[identity profile] equalsfive.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
The year I was from was 1984, yes.

Any book which may exist is Eastasian propaganda and you should not read or believe it, comrade.

Prefect is about to DISS YOU.

[identity profile] buywithme.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. That's strange. 1984 was centuries ago in my time, but I never heard anything about any of the ideals you purport.

O'Brien's used to it by now :(

[identity profile] equalsfive.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Have you not? Neither have the rest of the unorthodox population of this boat. You shall all come to realise that the only true and strong form of government is that of the Party, in time.

You all live in underdeveloped political systems, comrade, that is the only explanation. You will soon enough come to see how reality should be.

Either that or all your memories will be corrected, soon enough.

[identity profile] buywithme.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Comrade, how can your party correct my memories from the past? That doesn't make sense.

I think that your Party slowly evolved into the Factory, continuing towards perfection until the end of time.

[identity profile] equalsfive.livejournal.com 2009-11-30 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
We can, we have that much power, comrade. Who controls the past controls the future, who controls the present controls the past.

Impossible. Your Factory isn't self-aware enough or capable of handling its enemies strictly enough to be an evolved version of the Party. The Party is the height of political power. It is the last and infinate form of government. It needs no evolution.

Your Factory is clearly further advanced than many of the others' systems, but it can never approach the Party for efficiency and power.
