Stildyne is a good friend of mine, and this was just... a really really strange life choice that he made and then apologised for.

He said he was sorry, and I made him explain why he'd done it, and then I forbade him to ever do it again, and then he thanked me and that was it.

We should go up to the bar. I've had enough gin today.

[Barron's waiting outside the bar, looking more than a little bit tense.]

Hey, Comrade.

[Prefect flashes Barron a quick smile, trying to ignore the obvious tension, as he opened the door to the pub.]

I was thinking we could talk about how you found the flood? Having all your memories in tact?

[Barron smiles.] Well, it was pretty damn strange. But it's not something that I have to worry about now.

[Most of the memories hadn't hung around. Barron walks into the pub, heading straight for the bar.]

Why don't you tell me about it, Comrade?

[Prefect follows him quickly, eyes flicking across the bar towards the assorted booze.]

And what do you want to drink?

I'm trying not to think about it.

[Barron reaches over the bar and grabs a bottle of vodka.] Not yet, anyway. Time for some liquid courage.

Was it really that bad, Comrade?

[But Vodka is always good, so Prefect reaches across the bar for a bottle of white rum to go with it, and turns to find them a table, shooting Barron a curious look as he does so.]

It was just a bit shitty. I'm not traumatized or anything.

[Barron picks a table and walks over. He sits down, opens the bottle and drinks straight from it.]

[Prefect kind of stares at Barron, chugging Vodka from the bottle for a minute. Normally he's the one who starts off either drinking fast or creating the means for Barron to drink fast, but apparently his inmate has... kind of picked up the pace on his own.]

What was so bad about it? And... uh... Comrade, how do you feel about slowing down a little?

[Barron looked at Prefect as if his warden had grown a second head. Since when was slowing down a thing that they did?]

Right. [Barron said, deciding to at least get a class to put his straight vodka into.] You found being me disconcerting, right? It was just like the flip of that.

[Just a little bit, Barron. Prefect's kind of used to knowing that he drinks like that, but... it's a bit jarring seeing you do it when he's completely sober.]

It was... I don't know, Comrade. Other things compromised the experience of being you, for me.

[Pause]

I did find it alarming how much I didn't know, when I became myself again.

[Barron smiles at that, before cheerfully downing his glass of vodka.]

I guess that means that I'm the opposite of alarmed at the moment? [He laughs.] That's probably true.

[Prefect reaches out quickly, to lower Barron's glass to the table.] Comrade, do you ever think that maybe we should find a hobby other than drinking? Do you like swimming? Or Yoga?

[FOCUS, PREFECT, FOCUS]

So... what was it like? Did you get a chance to write down many of your memories?

[Barron looked at his glass, than back up at Prefect.]

What are you talking about, man? We drink the same amount.

[Time to ignore that, by talking about equally awkward things.] I wrote down a bit, but it was hard to know what I didn't normally remember.

I didn't really think about it, Comrade? Until I saw you drink all of that vodka just then? But I think maybe we drink a lot. Fast.

[Prefect nodded, frowning heavily.]

I understand, Comrade. It's... confusing, for someone in your position.

[Barron looked at the bottle of vodka. Even he could see that he had been hitting it rather fast.]

Okay, maybe you're right. I'll slow up a bit, okay? Although we don't drink that much.

[Barron paused before continuing.] It's not that confusing. Being you was more confusing, knowing all that stuff.

[Prefect offered, sincerely.]

And, it's not so confusing when it comes about naturally? Like, when you've never had amnesia, it seems normal to remember all those things, Brother.

[Barron laughs.] Yeah, right. Having your head all filled with junk. I really don't need to remember that much about being a kid.

Was that how you felt about it during the flood? Do you remember thinking that those memories, of being a kid, were unimportant?

[Barron frowns, looking fairly uncomfortable.] Well, if I went back home today they wouldn't be that useful, right? Not for stuff that's actively happening to me.
