Apparently someone was murdered. I don't see how that should keep us from performing our assigned jobs though.

Murdered? That's unfortunate, but I fail to understand why we have to be punished for someone else's actions.

I know! At this rate the damage the plants will have suffered from dehydration by the time we get back could be irreparable.

Exactly. Once the moisture has leaked out, very few will be useful for any practical purpose. As well as being dead.

This seems rather discriminatory. They wouldn't shut down the kitchen for all this time if someone was murdered there.

I don't understand why the garden even needs to be locked. Couldn't they just lock up the dangerous tools and leave us the essentials out, like watering cans?

[identity profile] doctor-j-crane.livejournal.com 2010-09-06 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
You're quite right, it's ridiculous. Perhaps they imagine that we'll beat each other to death with plastic watering cans.

Besides, warden supervision clearly has no bearing on whether or not people get killed in the garden. All the available evidence suggests that we should no longer be supervised.

I'm inclined to agree. Frankly, despite the recent events, the garden appears to be one of the safest places on the barge. I fail to understand why we need supervision for such a harmless place.

Absolutely! It's even situated on the deck, where it could be easily monitored by anyone passing! If people are inclined to attack one another then there are plenty of other locations where it would be far more convenient to do so!

We should launch a protest. They're keeping us from out rehabilitation through the forces of nature. I fail to understand how we're meant to improve ourselves if we can't even nurture little life forms.
